Mas Kailash Bed & Breakfast Yoga & Art
An enchanting olivegrove
Daily yoga and qigong on a deck above the valley, ink-art ateliers, harvest days in the grove — and Amanda & Pieter's gourmet cuisine.
Bargemon Var South of France
A HOUSE OF CRYSTALLISATION
A country home reborn as a sanctuary
A mas is an old Provençal farmhouse. Kailash means "crystal" in Sanskrit — the name of Tibet's sacred mountain. In 2005 a journey around Mount Kailash gave Amanda and Pieter new direction and focus. In 2009 this ancient olive grove in Bargemon was reborn as a centre for well-being.
They have made it deliberately small in scale and generous in spirit: a handful of guests at a time, days shaped around movement, art and rest, and an unhurried welcome that guests describe, again and again, as feeling like family.
"Mas Kailash feels as though it has always been there — and makes you feel absolutely at one with nature."
YOUR DAYS HERE
Movement, art and healing — at your own pace
Everything is proposed, nothing is imposed. Choose a full program or simply sleep in and indulge in dolce far niente next to the pool..
Yoga & qigong
Daily morning sessions on the wooden deck with panoramic view over the valley. Hatha yoga and the slow, gathering focus of qigong — suitable for first-timers and advanced yogis alike.
Jin Shin Jyutsu
An ancient Japanese hands-on healing art. Pieter shares simple hand-holds for various uses which you can carry home and use for the rest of your life.
A home-grown table
Amanda's fresh sourdough bread, home-made jams, fresh eggs, olive oil from the grove, wild fennel tea — organic and mostly from a few steps away.
Ink-art ateliers
Chinese calligraphy and brush painting in Amanda's Sotto Voce studio. Many guests go home with their first Chinese characters to be framed on the wall.
Zen massage
Deep, quiet regeneation with Keita Onozaki inspired by Thai massage, shiatsu & breathing techniques.

WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP
Two ways to wake up in the grove
Both open onto the same view of olive trees and rolling hills — one behind French doors, one beneath a canopy of stars. Tap a photo to look closer.
THE ROOM
Durga Room
A newly restored garden room of beautiful simplicity. Open the French doors at the foot of the bed and the mountains are right there — fall asleep with the stars, wake to the light coming up over the valley. En-suite shower; a hammock a few steps away.
THE GLAMPING TENT
Ganesh Tent
Luxury under canvas, set right in the garden among wildflowers and prayer flags. Guests write of returning each evening to candles lit outside the tent, and sleeping better than they had in years beneath a sky full of stars.

Our story
Pieter and Amanda are enthusiastic yogis each with 50 years of practice. They met in 2003 in the Himalayas. Pieter was on a sabbatical year travelling in the Far East. Amanda was exploring Tibet and Nepal. Two years later they met up again in Kathmandu, heading for Tibet, to walk around mystical Mount Kailash. Since then they are side by side.
The funny thing is that they are both Belgians, both studied in Ghent in the same years and both left Belgium in 1978. Pieter went to the United States and Amanda to P.R. China. Twenty five years later, in 2003, while trekking in the Himalayas, there was a serendipitous meeting in a lodge called "See You". The seed for a Well-being centre sprouted there.
Pieter started yoga at the age of 19 and furthermore trained in taiqiquan and qigong. He lived in the US for 25 years working in the restaurant industry. In 2004 he dedicated one year to intensive yoga practice in Thailand. He is also a practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu, the ancient Japanese Art of hands-on healing.
In 2009 they settled in an enchanting Olive Grove, overlooking the valley of Bargemon, in the Var, South of France. The ideal place to create their Centre for well-being small and intimate in scale and generous in spirit. They have been receiving guests ever since.
Amanda started yoga at the age of 17 and was teaching yoga in Taiwan at 22. She practices Wudang qigong & taiqiquan since 30 years. She is a sinologist who speaks, reads and writes fluent Chinese and has a Ph.D. in Chinese Art and Philosophy.
